Dog Breed Book Tag

Ok so I have been sitting on this idea for a little while now and I think I’ve finally come up with enough categories to post this tag. So this is the Dog Breed Book Tag! If you haven’t noticed I love dogs and I love books so what better way to combine these things?

The Rules:

-Tag the creator: Maggie @ MassachusettsNovel so I can see all your amazing answers

-Tag at least 3 people when you’re done

-Use photos! Who doesn’t want to see cute photos of dogs to brighten their day?

-Add a new dog category if you can think of one!

-Have Fun!

Ok so let’s get on with the tag and the dogs!

Golden Retriever, The Family Dog: What book character would you bring home to meet your family | Levi

Levi from Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl. Ugh what I would give to find a Levi of my own. A boy who would enjoy listening to me read a loud to him and would enjoy my immense neediness. A boy who would bring me coffee and be literally the sweetest person on the face of this planet. I would bring Levi home with me in a heartbeat and honestly the more I think about it the more the actual character reminds me of a big lovable Golden Retriever.

Pitbull, The Misunderstood: Name a character you misjudged at first meeting | Rhysand

Is anyone surprised that this is my answer? No? Didn’t think so. Rhys. My precious baby bat who must be protected. Now I did not hate him when we first met, but I was a little wary just because I was not looking forward to the back and forth love triangle I was expecting in ACOMAF. But boy was I surprised at the route it took and Rhys quickly became one of the greatest characters of all times, and like a pitbull looked tough on the outside but was actually a precious baby who needed some love and snuggles.

Dalmatian: A book cover that is aesthetically pleasing to you | Clockwork Princess

There are so many beautiful books so it was hard to choose but one of my all-time favorite book cover is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. All her book cover are beautiful (the originals not the new ones) but this one is hands down the best. Tessa looks stunning and that dress *fanning myself*.

Lab, The Lovable: A book you think almost anyone can love | Eleanor and Park

This book is so sweet and adorable and addresses some sensitive issues but I honestly believe it is a book that most people could get something out of. It’s a great coming of age story, love story and catalogs some of the hardships that affect a lot of people the tae don’t always see in literature. Plus the characters are just so lovable.

Mutt: A book with a little bit of everything in it | I’ll Give You the Sun

I don’t know why I feel like this has a little bit of everything for everyone in it. It’s a contemporary following a twin brother and sister. It has loss, secrets, first love and love lost. I feel like it covers a wide variety of topics that come up in your peoples lives and incorporates a lot of important themes.

Dachshund: A long book that’s worth the read | The Book Thief

In an effort to avoid sounding like a broken record I have not chosen my gut instinct of ACOMAF. Instead I’ve picked The Book Thief. I loved this book and actually did not realize how big a book it is until I recently bought the anniversary edition. But I loved this book. I had to read it for school but it was so moving and sad but beautiful.

Samoyed: A book you love that is full of fluff | Anna and the French Kiss Series

These books are super fluffy. They are your classic “Boy Meets Girl” romances but they are so adorable and I love the way they all tie together even thought they follow different characters every time. They’re also super fun because they all take place in different places but if you’re looking for a fluffy feel good romance these are perfect.

Border Collie: A book that is a high energy read | Six of Crows Series

I love Six of Crows and by extension Crooked Kingdom. I love heist shows and books so this was perfect. If you’ve ever seen Leverage, it’s about a group of criminals who do these crazy heists to help people. Six of Crows reminded me of that a lot and so I loved it. The entire time there is so much going on, that you don’t even notice until Kaz reveals it usually, and it’s just such a fun, action packed read.

Chines Crested: A book that looks great naked | Three Dark Crowns/Insurgent

Ok so I have a tie for this one. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake is gorgeous naked. I love the tiny little gold symbols on the cover, the deep maroon color and the black spine. But I recently learned the Insurgent is gorgeous naked. It’s cover is kinda a light sickly green BUT NAKED it is a deep dark BEAUTIFUL forest green with the gold tree insignia on the cover and I LOVE IT. So it’s a tie for this one.

Your favorite literary pooch | Fleetfoot

Of course it’s Fleetfoot from the Throne of Glass series. I have a stuffed dog named Fleetfoot but honestly I have some serious reasons for loving her. First of all she is a mutt and she was originally going to be killed because she was shy but she got a second change and became an amazing companion. Second chances for dogs, especially mutts is important for me which is why I love Fleetfoot so much.

Your Favorite Dog(s) | Jonesy and McGuire

img_2624

Jonesy: 12 year old female border collie-golden retriever mix (brown)                                                 McGuire: 8 year old male pointer mix (black and white)

Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag

Thank you Emily @ Emiesnook for tagging me to do the zombie apocalypse tag, which sounds super fun and fits perfectly for October with Halloween coming up!

The Rules:

  • Choose 5 books!
  • Randomly set up your books in order.
  • Flip to a random page in the book and write the first two names you see.
  • Put the names in the categories listed below in the order you saw them!
  • Have fun imagining your apocalypse team get ripped to shreds one by one

My 5 Books:

The characters from these books include:

  • Nesta
  • Cassian
  • Peeta
  • Haymitch
  • Clary
  • Isabelle
  • Ringer
  • Zombie
  • Nina
  • Inej

Let the Zombie Apocalypse Begin!

The First Person To Die | Peeta

Ok so I love Peeta, but he is so useless without Katniss in a fight. So let’s be honest, we all know Peeta is probably going to be the first to die in a zombie apocalypse.

THE PERSON YOU TRIP TO ESCAPE THE ZOMBIES | Clary

Sorry Clary, but by process of elimination you’ve landed in this spot. But to be honest, if it’s early pre-shadowhunter training Clary I’d probably get away with it but it it’s Shadowhunter Clary I’d probably be the one who ends up falling. Plus Clary fights demons, so if I trip her she can probably fight them off.

THE PERSON THAT TRIPS YOU TO GET AWAY FROM THE ZOMBIES| Nesta

I think we all know that Nesta would not hesitate to protect herself and sacrifice me to get away. After all, I would do the same and we’re pretty similar. I think the only person she wouldn’t trip to get away from them would be Elain, but besides that it would be survival of the fittest.

raw-2

THE TEAM IDIOT | Zombie

A little ironic right? Zombie in a zombie apocalypse? But lets face it, Ben Parish/Zombie is not the brains of the operation in the 5th Wave. Ringer is the one who is always figuring everything out, leaving Ben/Zombie as our resident team idiot.

THE BRAINS OF THE GROUP | Ringer

Speaking of Ringer, yes she is 100% the brains of the operation. She helped her squad through an alien apocalypse and was the one who figured everything out, so she should absolutely be in charge of this group in a zombie apocalypse.

THE TEAM MEDIC | Nina

Nina is a proven medic. While is may not be her specialty, she healed up that knife wound Inej got so I’d go to her first if I was in need of some medical attention.

THE WEAPONS EXPERT | Inej

While Inej may only be well versed in knives, the Wraith is a force to be reckoned with. I would absolutely trust Inej with all the groups weapons, especially since we see the care she puts into her knives upkeep.

THE TEAM’S BRAWLER | Cassian

My habibi Cassian (fun fact: habibi is arabic for my love and one of my roommates speaks arabic so this word is my replacement for bae. Learn it. Use it.) Obviously Cassian loves a good fight, although better hope he has a leather to tie his long hair into a beautiful man bun. But I know Cassian would gladly leap into a horde of Zombies to brawl for fun so I think he works here.

giphy-7.gif

THE FIRST PERSON TO TURN INTO A ZOMBIE | Haymitch

Ok the only reason I think Haymitch would be the first to turn into a Zombie is because he would get drunk and be too drunk to run away. Plus I’m sure drunk Haymitch identifies with a zombie.

Haymitch-Thumbs-Up-Hunger-Games-GIF-1425352324.gif

THE TEAM LEADER | Isabelle

Isabelle Lightwood is a kick ass shadow hunter and is more than qualified to lead this group. She could definitely step into the leader role and would probably end up saving the entire world from this zombie apocalypse with this bad as squad.

The Handwriting Tag

Thank you Ann @ AnntheBookMaster for tagging me to do this. This is interesting and unlike any Tag I’ve ever done before.  The questions come from Amber @Wild Hearts Review  and Dalila @Life Blogging, Life Loving.

The Questions:

  1. What is your name?
  2. What is the URL to your blog
  3. Write the following: “The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog”
  4. Your Favorite Song Lyric(s)
  5. What is your Favorite Word and Definition
  6. Share a Fun Fact about yourself
  7. Write/Draw your Favorite Emoji
  8. Write a Silly Message
  9. Who do you tag?

So I don’t hate or love my handwriting. Sometimes it’s really neat (my notes for microbiology are beautiful) and sometimes it’s gross. I write with my page sideways and do not hold a pencil write but that’s just me. If you notice I also do not like capital letters. I always write my own name with a lowercase “m” and “g” (which is why my signature at the bottom is not capitalized. Now you know!).  I am also THE WORST speller on this planet. Recently (as in this year) in class I wrote Marget at the top of my paper. (For those of you who don’t know, yes that is my real name, and it is spelt Margaret not Marget). Whoops…

So just to clarify a few things:

  • Boston by Augustana is the song I listen to whenever my plane is landing in Boston when I fly home to give me all the homecoming feels. (I make sure it’s at the exact line “I think I’ll go to Boston” when the wheels are touching down).
  • Yes there is a word that means “to throw someone out a window”. You’re welcome.
  • Of course I take a Scottish Dance Class (are you surprised?)
  • Of course the sarcastic judging you emoji is my favorite.
  • And yes I wrote that limerick one day about how I stole my dad’s Kindle fire he won in a raffle (which is still mine) and felt bad so I convinced my brother and sister to buy him the old Kindle original for father’s day.
  • And of course I tag:

The Entertainer Blogger Award

A big thank you to Birdie Bookworm for the nomination to do The Entertainer Blogger Award! I certainly think I’m entertaining but it’s nice to know that other people might think so too.

Entertainer.png

The Rules |

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Add these rules to your post.
  • Answer all the questions below.
  • Display the award picture in your post.
  • Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all ENTERTAINING!

The Questions |

1. Why did you start a blog in the first place |

You mean besides as an excuse to spend ever more time insides in front of my computer and buy books? Well, at first I started this blog while I was in Nee Zealand on study abroad. Two of the girls I was traveling with had WordPress accounts and after seeing them I decided I wanted somewhere to share my amazing experience abroad. But while I was in New Zealand I also decided I wanted to post some book reviews since I always thought being a part of booktube would be amazing but I was too camera shy for that and that is how my blog morphed into what it is today.

2. What is your favorite book |

26073150This is always a loaded question because there are so many books that I love. But if you read my blog you know Sarah j Maas is my queen and right now and my all time favorite book of hers (currently) is A Court of Mist and Fury. I have loved it since May when it came out and I still obsess over it all the time.

3. What do you dislike the most |

Wow. Aggressive question. Like what do I dislike most ever? Animal suffering? Poverty? Those kinds of things? That seems a little deep so I’m going to alter this to what do I dislike most in the reading world and of course it’s always the same: books that end with memory wipes or the lose of whatever awesome power they’ve had the entire book. Hate that.

4. What is your favorite food item from the mall |

Those awesome Thai or Japanese food bars where you get to fill one of those styrofoam boxes with whatever you want. Nothing like noodles, rice and broccoli all heaping in sauce. Delicious.

5. What is your favorite pastime |

Besides reading….? Or blogging? Well I love just sitting around with my dogs with coffee (and a book of course).

The Wine Book Tag

So I love wine, and love reading so what goes better together than doing the wine book tag!  I first saw this tag on Emma Kath @ lladyliterary. So grab some wine and lets do the Wine Book Tag!

tumblr_nzirpbByTU1tmqxb5o1_r3_400.gif

Box Wine: A book that people will judge you for liking but you like anyway | Iron King

6644117So kicking this off stealing lladyliterary’s first answer. This is what drew me into this post because I love this series and couldn’t agree more is a book people will judge. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa is a series I love, and I feel like nobody else has read. I thought the books were so fabulous. I love Megan and Ash and was rooting for them the entire time. I love the setting and this take on the Fae. And I was even happy to have the spin off, even if it wasn’t as good of the original (of course).

Organic Wine: A book that doesn’t have any added crap and is written perfectly | Fangirl

fangirl-rainbow-rowell-cover-677x1024Fangirl is perfect. There is nothing about Fangirl I did not like except the end, because it was over and I could have read 500 more pages about Cath. Never in my life have I connected so much with a book character so in my mind Fangirl is flawless.

Gluehwein: A really spicy, wintry read | Outlander

21532133If Outlander isn’t spicy I don’t know what is. The chemistry between Claire and Jamie is electric and there are some steamy scenes between the two of them. Plus something about the remote Scottish setting just makes me want to curl up with a blanket on a cold day and read this.

Sauvignon Blanc: A really sharp and aggressive read that you couldn’t put down | The 5th Wave

16101128I didn’t expect to like this book because I’d heard it was about aliens and that didn’t really interest me. But there was so much mystery to the entire story and it was written so well that I ended up reading it cover to cover in under 48 hours, staying up all hours of the night just to see what happens.

Pinot Noir: A book you didn’t expect much from but ended up getting blown away by | Six of Crows

23437156I did not know anything about this book when I picked it up except that it was a heist novel. I had never read the Grisha trilogy and actually didn’t know anything about it. But I just needed something to read and amazon suggested this. And Oh My Gosh was I BLOWN AWAY. I loved this book start to finish and it is now one of my favorite books.

Chardonnay: A good summer read that was super zesty | The Bet

17560674-2Ok so The Bet is good for when you just need that quality boy gets the girl in the end romance read, but a little bit more for adults. I enjoyed this story and then the 2 sequals a lot. This was one of the first romance novels I ever picked up and it will always be a favorite. It was a nice beach read.

Rose: A book that has a little bit of everything in it | The Mortal Instruments

256683Werewolves, demons, vampires, Fae, Warlocks, Angels, Shapeshifters, Demon hunters oh my! This series has all the paranormal creatures, YA romance, action, politics, family issues you name it and it’s somewhere in this vast universe created by Cassandra Clare.

Shiraz: A full bodied book that is dark and juicy | Diminished Responsibility

9205674So I had to read a book with a “responsibility theme” summer before my senior year of high school. I found this by simply looking for books with responsibility in the title and ended up really enjoy it. It starts off with a girl and her sister getting kidnapped and her sister dies. But because of “diminished responsibility” the murdered gets off with a lesser sentence. We then get to see how he haunts her for the rest of her life and what happens as she tries to escape her past. It was an exciting read and a little dark but full o lots of twists and turns.

Merlot: A smooth easy read with a soft finish | Anna and the French Kiss

17453983When you just need that really cute love story, the it totally PG, then Anna and the French Kiss is perfect. It’s an adorable romance where everything works out, plus there are two more stories to go along with it where we do get sneak peeks of what Anna and her man are up to.

Champagne: Your favorite book | A Court of Mist and Fury

26073150How can I not mention this book. It came out in may and all this time later at the end of September it is still consuming my soul. Despite the fact that Empire of Storms has come and gone, A Court of Mist and Fury still holds the top spot in my heart as not only my favorite SJM book, but my favorite book in general. I still find myself searching the internet for new fan fiction, rereading chapters and falling in love with these characters all over again all the time and I don’t think that’s going to stop any time soon.

Who do you tag |

Stationary Book Tag

I want to thank Andie @ BooksCoffeeAndPassion for tagging me to do this book tag. I absolutely adore book tags so keep the tag coming! I’ve had so much fun doing the last few from everyone!

The Rules:

  • Thank the creator – Sam @ RiverMooseReads
  • Answer the questions
  • Add pictures, if you want
  • Tag 5 people

Pencils: Favorite Middle Grade or Children’s Book | A Series of Unfortunate Events

a2ea4766f8470f0435e492db349ec2f3.jpgThis was the first series as a kid that I had my mom making daily runs to the bookstore for me. I was blowing through these books in 4th grade, and they started getting longer and longer but I could not put them down. I remember going to New York to visit my grandpa and we were supposed to walk around the city but all I wanted to do was stay in and read (which was the start of a slippery slope…did you get the series of unfortunate events pun there?)

Pens: A Basic Staple for any Reader | The Book Thief

19063-2I love The Book Thief. It is such a beautiful story and the fact that it’s narrated by death makes it so unique. It’s such an amazing book and if they didn’t make you read it for school then everyone should read it at some point. It is one of the only books that has ever made me cry and possibly the only book that made me cry that wasn’t sad because a dog was dying or hurt. I also just got the special anniversary edition because I love it that much and it’s beautiful.

Notebooks: What do you Own Multiple Copies Of | None yet but…

157457539781250064875_p0_v4_s192x300
I have every intention of investing in the special edition of Eleanor and
Park and Fangirl, both by Rainbow Rowell. I just really love the beautiful fan art on the inside cover, especially in Eleanor and Park and since they’re standalones it’s not like I have to invest in an entire second set of a series.

Markers: A Book With a Beautiful Cover | Clockwork Princess

6131164Ok so there are so many books with beautiful covers (like every SJM book ever) but I LOVE the Clockwork Princess cover. The first 2 books have good covers, but the last one is amazing! That dress is so gorgeous and Tessa looks just how I imagined her and it’s just stunning.

Glue: Two Characters That Work Really Well Together (friends or couple)| Percabeth

f15f05e59c4e906cd447444fd72006afSo I just used Percy and Annabeth for another tag, as my ultimate OTP, and while I have a lot of ships in my armada, Percabeth will always be up there as a favorite. I picked them for this question because there are plenty of OTPs who don’t always work great together and Percy and Annabeth are the ultimate fighting machine and between Percy’s powers, Annabeth’s smarts and both of their overall skill and determination they have literally been able to walk through hell together so I’d say they work pretty well together.

Scissors: A Book You Would Like to Destroy | Allegiant

Allegiant_novel_cover.jpgStupid stupid stupid Allegiant. Taking a perfectly nice series and ruining it all. Not just the ending (you know what she did *glares at author*) but the entire last book was just such a let down. The entire plot line just fell flat compared to what had happened in the previous books and don’t even get me started on the ending because I’m still upset about it.

Art Kit: What Complete Series Do You Own | All the Sarah J Maas books

throneofglasssetSo I do not yet have entire series but I have all her released books, including the coloring book! (just missing the last book in each series *sobs uncontrollably*) and then they’re both over which will be the most bittersweet year ever. But I used to buy all my books on kindle and then I bought 1 Sarah J Maas book last year, which led to all of them, and now I have over 3 shelves of books.

Book Tag: Seasons of Book Blogging

Thank you Ann @ AnnTheBookMaster for tagging me to do the Seasons of Book Blogging Book Tag, which was originally created by Jordyn @ J.Bookish back in November 2015. Also I hope everyone appreciates my extreme effort to not use Sarah J Maas characters for literally every answer because let me tell you it is a struggle.

The rules are:

  1. Thank the creator and the person who tagged you
  2. Begin with the month you were tagged and move forward from there
  3. State the best gift you’ve ever been given after you answer the question for your birthday month
  4. Tag new people!
  5. Have fun

So, here is the Seasons of Book Blogging Book Tag!

September, the time students go back to school. Pick a book you read for school you actually enjoyed | The Book Thief

19063-2.jpgSo this was one of my summer reading books in high school and I absolutely loved it. The fact that it’s told from the perspective of death is so interesting and even though it was sad it was just such an amazing story, especially if you love books.

October is the time for Halloween. Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween | Nesta Archeron

tumblr_odtooygrjg1uv3gwvo2_1280So I have to pick Nesta because me, Emily @ EmiesNook and Jess @ StarsWhoListen have a plan to dress as all 3 Archeron sisters together at some point and I’m so excited to do it because I love Nesta and her fiery personality and “takes no shit” attitude. Now all I need is a Cassian to accompany me.

November is the month we are reminded to be thankful. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout out to the person who recommended it | Twilight

41865I know what you’re thinking…Twilight? Really? But let me clarify why. My friend Natalie forced me to read this the summer before 8th grade and this was a big jumping off point for my love of reading. I’d always loved to read but Twilight was special for me and one of the first things I’d ever hard core “fangirled” over.

December is the time for friends and family to celebrate and give gifts. Name one book you would give as a gift | Fangirl

fangirl-rainbow-rowell-cover-677x1024Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is a book I have given as a gift and recommended to many people. The reason it is the perfect book to recommend is because if you are a real bookworm and love to read, then you will on some level see a piece of yourself in Cath which makes it such a special book. Plus Rainbow Rowell is such an amazing writer that you can’t not love this book.

January begins a new year. Name a reading resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not |Yearly Classic

9781435158108_p0_v1_s192x300For the past few years I’ve tried to make myself read one classic book a year. So far I’ve gotten through the Odyssey and Wuthering Heights and this year I’m trying to make it through the Complete Collection of Sherlock Holmes. Now that is A LOT of stories so no way I’ll finish it this year but I have read a fair number of them so far so I think it’s going well.

February is the month for love. Name your favorite book relationship | Percabeth

f15f05e59c4e906cd447444fd72006af.jpgOk so this is a difficult question for me because I feel like I have so many OTPs. But in an effort to not use Sarah J. Maas characters for every answer I’ve decided to go with Percy and Annabeth from the Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan I love percabeth with all my heart and they were the first couple I actively sought out fan fiction for so I could continue their story.

March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’ve never read it | The Infernal Devices

6131164.jpgThe Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare was so amazing. I loved every second of it and wish I could read it again for the first time over and over because it’s never as good as the first time. The characters were so amazing and I loved the historical setting with the elaborate dresses and carriages. And there were so many twists and amazing, action packed scenes that I wish I could reread the first time again.

April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations | Red Queen

22328546So it’s not that I didn’t like this book, I thought it was good. But after all the hype I was expecting it to be amazing and it just didn’t do it for me. I liked it but I just never really got that connected to the characters

May is the month when the flowers start to bloom. Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you | Starcrossed

9462795-2This book I found when I was looking for anything to read right when I got my kindle and was flying through books, some great and some horrible. I found this series by Josephine Angelini and it was such a pleasant surprise. Not only did I love the Greek mythology in it but I also loved the Nantucket setting since it referenced places I had been.

June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out | Contemporary

Sometimes you just need a really adorable contemporary, fluffy love story and nothing is a better break from the world than that perfect love story where boy meets girl and after some mild, mid story drama, they live happily ever after together.

July is the time to celebrate your independence. Name a book that made you see fireworks | Throne of Glass

81PUjYDq2yLThrone of Glass was another pleasant surprise for me. I avoided it for so long because all I’d ever seen of it on Goodreads was that horrible original cover with that awful little excerpt on the back. But after watching PolandBananasBooks RAVE over it I finally picked it up and the rest is history as it is now my favorite series and Sarah J Maas is my favorite author.

July is also my birth month but I have no idea what the best present I’ve ever gotten was. However once for Easter, the Easter Bunny fulfilled my life dream by leaving 2 baby bunnies for me so that was a real highlight for my 5 year old self.

August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing | Kara Thomas

kara-mustafa-newSo I have not yet read Kara Thomas’s book, The Darkest Corners, but I saw her speak with Sarah J Maas in Pennsylvania last spring and after listening to her speak I really think she has a lot more to offer and that she’s going to be big.

Book Tag: The Book Blogger Test

So I saw this tag on RececcaReads blog and loved it so naturally I just have to do it. So this is the Book Blogger Test Book Tag.

What are your top 3 pet peeves for books and reading? |

  1. When the next book in the series isn’t physically larger than the one before it (looking at you Empire of Storms). I hate when this happens. In my opinion the next book in a series should always be longer than the one before it. It just makes sense. And now with this “thin paper” Empire of Storms is a massive book, and it looks like its 200 pages long instead of 700. Hate that.
  2. When you own an entire series in hardcover/paperback except for that 1 book. I am a bit OCD about this. If I have a series its gotta be one of the other. The only series on my shelf that doesn’t follow this pattern is The Hunger Games because my 1st book is paper back but it has sentimental value so I can’t bring myself to replace it with a hardcover.
  3. Memory Wipes in final books. I feel like I mention this a lot now, but I cannot stand when authors use any sort of memory loss because I hate knowing more about the characters than they know about themselves. I will never forgive Lauren Kate (spoilers for Fallen ahead) for the way she ended the Fallen series. 4 book I go through and in the end they don’t remember any of it?!?

Describe your perfect reading spot | My couch

At my house we have the nice cozy family room that’s attached to the kitchen, with the TV and always loud. But then, because my home is of an older colonial style, we have the “formal parlor”. Now there’s nothing really formal about it. Half of it is occupied by a pool table but the other half has a nice sitting area. There’s a giant leather couch in there with a massive pillow and the best part is no on else in my family except my dogs goes in there. So it is the perfect reading spot.

Tell us 3 book confessions |

  1. I love Twilight. Twilight will always hold a special place in my heart no matter what people say about it.
  2. I hated the Legend Series. I don’t know why, since everyone loves this series but I just did not enjoy it (plus a memory wipe ending? Nope).
  3. I haven’t read all the Harry Potter books yet. I have now completed 1-4 but no I’ve never read the entire series so I did not get my start in reading with Harry Potter.

The Book Courtship Tag

Ok so I originally saw this on booklayerReads blog and thought it looked super fun so here it goes. This is the Book Courtship tag!

Initial Attraction: A book you bought because of the cover | Red Queen

22328546

Although I had heard of Red Queen, I had no idea what it was about and simply wanted it because it looked so pretty. I mean that crown dripping blood? Gorgeous. I mean how could you not want to read this?

First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary | The Bricks That Build the Houses

26073155I was in a used bookstore when I found this, so naturally the YA books were very limited. I grabbed this one off the shelf because it was bright pink and read the description which read

Becky, Harry and Leon are leaving London in a fourth-hand Ford with a suitcase full of stolen money, in a mess of tangled loyalties and impulses. But can they truly leave the city that’s in their bones?

It sounded very exciting, and thus far it’s been a lot slower than I was expecting, as right now it’s slowly detailing the lives of all theses characters who slowly begin to interconnect so hopefully we’ll get to the exciting stolen money and drama soon.

Sweet Talk: A book with great writing | Fangirl

fangirl-rainbow-rowell-cover-677x1024Anything by Rainbow Rowell has great writing in my mind. I love her books because there’s just something about the way she writes that captivates me. I’ve said this before but in my mind her and John Green touch on similar subject matter and write along similar lines but for some reason the way Rowell does her dialogue and weaves her story just captivates me so much more. Fangirl especially is a book I could read over and over and never get tired of.

First Date: A book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series | The Hunger Games

2767052While this applies to most series I’ve read I’d have to say The Hunger Games because that was really the first YA series I picked up for fun in high school after what I can only call my longest reading slump ever (post twilight in 8th grade that lasted for about 2 years). After reading the Hunger Games I had to have Catching Fire and stayed up all night after junior prom to finish it.

Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night | Catching Fire

6148028Again, this has been a lot of books for me, since if somethings good I do not want to put it down. But since I just mentioned it, I’ll say Catching Fire. At my post prom party when everyone else went to bed, I stayed up until 4 in the morning finishing Catching Fire because I HAD to know what happened. No shame.

Always On Your Mind: A book you could not stop thinking about | A Court of Mist and Fury

26073150A Court of Mist and Fury is responsible for my biggest book hangover EVER. Honestly it has been over 4 months since it came out and I’ve read plenty of other amazing books since then, INCLUDING Empire of Storms, and STILL I cannot get A Court of Mist and Fury off my brain. I think it may be my favorite SJM book of all time, which I can’t believe I’m saying because I LOVE Heir of Fire.

Getting Physical: A book you love because of the way it feels | The Complete Sherlock Holmes B&N Edition

9781435158108_p0_v1_s192x300This is probably the most beautiful book I own. It’s huge, leather bound, has the fancy build in bookmark, and the edges of the pages are GOLD. Plus the cover and spine are both gorgeous and it looks so nice on the shelf. I just love holding it, and it’s usually my subject for all book photo shoots.

Meeting the Parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends | Eleanor and Park

15745753I love Rainbow Rowell and I love Eleanor and Park. I think it’s such an amazing coming of age story that also touches on some really deep and important issues such as bullying, self identify, poverty and abuse, just to name a few. Honestly I feel like this book should be read in high school, since at least for me in 9th grade we only read “coming of age” stories and this one is amazing and I have already recommended it to at lease 2 people.

Thinking About the Future: A book or series you know you will reread many times | Throne of Glass Series

81PUjYDq2yLIt’s already been reread so many times so I know it’s going to happen again. I feel like every time I pick it up I discover some new little detail that just ties the story together later on the road and the ups and down of Celaena’s life and her struggles are so amazing to read every time. It may be fantasy but it’s a beautiful story and I’ll never get tired of it.

Share the Love: Who do you tag? |

@Emiesnook of course. I also tag the @The Immortal Readers and anyone else who wants to do this tag!

Goodreads Book Tag

So I love Goodreads. I discovered it in 2012 and have been using it religiously ever since. I first saw this tag on the hangingwithamanda blog so without further delay here is the Goodreads book tag.

What was the last book you marked as read | Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

Empire of Storms by SJM came out on Tuesday and it has been an exciting 3 days reading it but alas as always with her books its over too soon and no spoilers but the end has wrecked me and I don’t know how I’ll make it to next fall.

What are you currently reading | The Bricks that Build the Houses by Kate Tempest

This was a book I found at a used bookshop for $3. I had never heard of it but it had a nice bright pink cover so I bought it. So far it’s ok. It’s a contemporary following the lives of a few people in London who’s lives are all interconnecting and weaving together throughout the book. It reminds me a little of Let the Great World Spins by Colum McCann. It’s been a slow read but it’s a good read 1 chapter before bed book.

What was the last book you marked as TBR | Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

I am so excited for this book. I had never heard of it until today when it came up on my Amazon and I just happened to click on it. The premise sounds fascinating: 3 sister princesses, all heirs to the throne, and all with a different form of magic. When they come of age, they will fight to the death and whoever is left standing becomes queen. I want my 2 best friends to read this with me since anything with 3 sisters is fun for us (we are Feyre, Nesta and Elaine from ACOMAF).

What book do you plan to read next | Between the Lines by Jodi Picot and Samantha Van Leer

I bought this today and I’m super excited to pick it up. I feel like the premise is exciting for any book worm. The thought of the handsome prince on the pages falling in love with you while you read it. I’ve heard good things about this book and it’s sequel and I think it’s going to be just the type of cute romance I need after finishing Empire of Storms.

Do you use the star rating system | Yes

Yes but I always wish that Goodreads had half stars. When I first started reading it I gave almost everything 5 stars, very few things 4 stars and only the absolute worst 3 stars. Since then I’ve had to go back and adjust my rating since I realized that not all my 5 star books were created equal and a lot of my 3 star books were 2 or even 1 stars.

Are you doing the 2016 reading challenge | Yes

Yes I love that Goodreads tracks how many books I read each year. Generally I fall somewhere between 35-50 books a year so my goal is usually about 45. So far this year I’m a little behind since during winter break, when I would usually get a lot of my reading done I was studying abroad and then during the summer I was in a horrible book slump. But I’m currently at 23 with a few months left so I think I could still get there.

Do you have a wish list | No

No I’ve never used the wishlist since no one really buys me books. I pick out my own books and pretty much use my TBR list as a wish list.

What book do you plan to buy next | Good Question

More often than not I go to the used book store 2nd and Charles and get books there. The books are in great condition and they have such a great selection. But since they never have anything I never know what I’m going to find. I did pre-order Crooked Kingdom today though.

Do you have any favorite quotes. Share a few | Of Course

“You’re never going to find a guy who’s exactly like you—first of all, because that guy never leaves his dorm room.”
― Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”
-Sarah J Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

“You drool when you sleep.”
― Rick Riordan, The Lightning Thief

“I claim you, Aelin. To whatever end.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Heir of Fire

“Jesper knocking his head against the hull and cast his eyes heavenward. “Fine. But if Pekka Rollins kills us all, I’m going to get Wylan’s ghost to teach my ghost how to play the flute just so that I can annoy the hell out of your ghost.”
Brekker’s lips quirked. “I’ll just hire Matthias’ ghost to kick your ghost’s ass.”
“My ghost won’t associate with your ghost,” Matthias said primly, and then wondered if the sea air was rotting his brain.”
― Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

“You know, you ladies can let us males do things every now and then.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Empire of Storms

Who are your favorite authors |

Well if you couldn’t tell from the quote question my absolute favorite authors of all time are Sarah J. Maas and Rainbow Rowell. Sarah is my queen of fantasy and Rainbow is there when I need something set in the real world.

Have you joined any groups | No

Unfortunately I don’t really take advantage of all the other features Goodreads has to offer. For recommendations I usually look to Booktube or blogs, and same thing with discussing books.

Who do you tag |

The usual. EmiesnookEmiesnook and anyone else who wants to do this tag.

Thanks for Reading!
