My Thoughts on 2016

So if you read my blog you know my favorite booktube blogger is PolandBananasBooks. And one of my favorite videos she does is her end of the year summary. Because listening to her put her year in perspective always helps me do the same for mine.

The end of the year is always such a rush and with new year’s resolutions we sometimes lose sight of everything we accomplished the previous year. So here I’d like to share some of the big mile stones of my 2016:

1. I studied abroad in New Zealand | January

I had the amazing opportunity to travel to New Zealand all winter to study Animal Science last year and it was the most amazing 5 weeks of my life. I started this blog because of that trip. There I got to see picturesque landscapes, sky dive, bungee jump, white water raft, see a world heritage site, experience a totally new culture and make so many new friends. I’ve done so many posts about it but as it is currently the 1 year anniversary of my arrival date I can’t help but reminisce all the amazing memories. Especially since my little Emiy @ Emiesnook is there right now!

2. I went home for a weekend | March

I do not live close enough to have the luxury to go home for the weekend in college. It’s a 6 hour drive on a good day and I don’t have a car. But in March my best friend Jess @ starswholisten and I took a road trip to Massachusetts so I could show her around Boston to see if she wanted to attend Law School there. Not only did we discover some of the most important Bellarke songs ever on this trip but we marched about 9 miles from Fenway, all through the Back Bay, up the Esplanade, to the Public Garden, Common, Government Center, Faneuil Hall, then all the way up to the north end for a cannoli before joining my parents in the south end for dinner. It was so much fun and I’m so glad that I helped her decided to move up here for Law School.

3. I met my little | March

I know I mention her all the time, but the truth is Emily @ EmiesNook and I haven’t even known each other for a year yet. We met in March when we went on a “girl date” for a sorority to help the new members meet people. The reason I was interested in meeting her is because she had put The 100 under things she liked and then I saw she had Sarah J Maas there as well and I knew we were meant to be friends. Since then she has been responsible for a massive increase in my neediness and I thank her for every second of it.

4. I met my favorite author | April

I have Emily @ Emiesnook to thank for this one too, but in April she invited me along to meet Sarah J Maas and it was so amazing. We drove 3 hours to a sleepy little town in Pennsylvania even though we hadn’t even known each other for a month yet. We met Sarah who was amazing. She was so funny and actually moderating for another author but she was so down to earth and hilarious. I was so grateful to get my books signed and I am counting down the days until she coms my way again.

5. I got my little | April

Big-Little week was so amazing for me. I have posts about all the days that you can go read but Emily @ Emiesnook did such an amazing job. All the days were things I loved to much. From James Frase, Jon Snow and Bellamy Blake on man crush monday, to Throne of Glass and Lord of the Rings I was so grateful to all the work she put into decorating my room. Plus after that we started spending way too much time together alone with my big Jess @ starswholisten. We watched The 100, GoT and Outlander together every week, went to the bookstore together and ate pints of ice cream together. PLUS Sarah J Maas herself liked the tweet of the paddle I made my little that said “fire breathing bitch queen” on it!

6. ACOMAF | May

In May ACOMAF came out and almost ruined my life. I still blame this book for me almost failing a class last spring because no matter how hard I tried to study I could think about nothing else. This is my favorite book last year and my favorite book of all time at the moment and I have literally been twidiling my thumbs waiting for ACOWAR to come out. No book has ever resulted in me buying so much book merch (you’ve seen the candles). Never have I saved so much fanart, or read so much fan fiction for a book. I am in love with it and so it was definitely a highlight of the year.

7. Everyone Graduated | May

This year everyone but me graduated. My brother graduated college, my sister graduated high school and my best friend and big Jess graduated from UD. The road trip to Bucknell with my mom was awesome since we always have fun together (even though it was in the middle of my finals week). Then I had Jess’s graduation at UD which I was fortunate enough to still be around for. It was bitter sweet but I was glad to be there. And then when I got home my little sister graduated from high school.

8. Wildlife Internship | June

In June I started one of the best internships of my life. I had the opportunity to work at a wildlife center and it was amazing. I got to work with geese, ducks, squirrels, song birds, skunks, owls, hawks and of course raccoons!!!

9. I turned 21!!! | July

I finally turned 21 this year. I was the last one of my friend group. And to make it even better Jess drove all the way to Massachusetts to celebrate with me. While it was low-key, just going into the city with my family plus Jess, it was just so exciting to finally be able to get a drink in the bar.

img_2081

10. Cape Vacation | July

After 2 months of working 7 days a week, I could think of nothing better than spending a week on the Cape with my family. We ended up in a cute cottage, got to borrow a friends boat and I got to partake in all the late night merriment since I was newly 21. It was so relaxing and nice since my brother had moved out after graduating so I got to see him for a whole week.

11. I’m a senior now? | August

I can’t believe it’s already here but somehow I’m on my last year of college. It feels like I just arrived at UD yesterday and now I’m getting ready to start my final semester of my undergraduate degree. It’s been nothing short of amazing. I’ve met so many amazing friends and gotten to do so many amazing things as a member of the Ag school. I have UD to thank for my opportunity to travel to New Zealand, and some of the amazing hands on experiences I’ve had.

12. I applied to vet school! | September

After doing nothing but applications all August long I finished all the essays and pieces of the application and submitted in September. Being a vet is my lifelong dream since I was 4 years old so to finally apply was so surreal after chasing this dream for all this time.

13. I got a pig! | September

This year I had the amazing opportunity to care for a sow and later her 13 piglets. I have never been so close to a pig before but I loved every second of it. It was so fun being a part of the birth of my piglets and brining my friends in to meet them. Plus it was actually so relaxing for me to have an animal to care for during the semester. I didn’t care that I had to get up early on the weekends and walk to the farm. Or that I always seemed to smell like pig. It is an experience I will remember forever and will always be grateful for.

14. Annapolis | October

In october I got to visit Annapolis with my parents and siblings. It was special that everyone was able to get down to the midatlantic at the same time and we had so much fun exploring Annapolis, a city we had never been to before. Plus it was the first time I’d seen my parents since August.

15. I joined Bookstagram | October

On top of my blog I finally had the courage to jump into the world of bookstagram. I love bookstagrams and had been playing around with the idea but I didn’t want to commit. Since joining Bookstagram I’ve had nothing but a positive experience from the community and I love being a part of bookstagram.

16. I cosplayed for the first time | October

For halloween this year my friends Jess and Emily and I committed to being Aelin, Elide and Manon from Throne of Glass. I have never done anything that required a wig like that before but we had such a good photo shoot and it gave me an excuse to buy “the bookstagram dagger”. Plus we were low-key twitter famous for a bit (for us anyways).

17.  I got accepted to vet school! | November

In November I heard back from one of the vet schools I applied to, University College Dublin with an acceptance! It came out of the blue since I was expecting to need to interview first so imagine my surprise when I was sitting in class and got a congratulatory email from the university.

IMG_4570.JPG

18. I went to a Scottish Ball | November

After taking Scottish Country Dance with Emily the whole semester we attended the Argyle ball in our best scottish get up and danced with people who had been doing this for a long time. But it was so fun. Everyone was so welcoming, the music was amazing and it ended up being an amazing night.

19. I picked up a dog on the side of the road | December

This is something I always do. If I see a dog in the street I am always the car that pulls over to get it. I was on my way to a service project for my sorority and there was this little cocker spaniel running around on a busy street. It was running from another woman chasing it but I popped out of the car and crouched in the street until the dog came to me. She was adorable and we were able to get it to a local vets office for animal control to pick up and get home.

IMG_4796.JPG

20. I finished my last fall semester of undergrad | December

This was my first and only 4.0 semester! I got straight As and I was not taking a light course load. Lucky for me my roommates birthday was on the last day of finals so me and my roommates were able to all be together and go out in ugly christmas sweaters before leaving the next day. I could think of no better way to end one of our last semesters together.

21. Bruins Game | December

Right when I got back from school my parents had an early christmas present for us. We were all going to a bruins game. I got to see my brother and sister and hang out with them for an entire evening (my parents had better seats) and even though the Bruins lost it was so fun.

IMG_5124.JPG

22. The Holidays | December

This year we finished off the year right. We had a great Christmas Eve party (which I may have had a little too much wine at). Christmas was not the best (solely because I was more than hungover. I had a couple dashes to the toilet to let some of that wine back out….oops). But then my family finished off the year with an amazing ski weekend. My family loves to ski and my brother was able to come so we were all together. We went to the mountain where we basically learned to ski, Attitash, NH. There I had a great time snowboarding on fresh snow that fell the day we arrived and we had a great family New Years to finish out 2016.

2016 may have not been the best year in the world. Sure lots of terrible things happened, we lost a lot of legends and I can’t say I’m happy about our new president but it’s important to reflect on the good in your life. And I’d say I was pretty blessed this year. Hopefully 2017 is even better as the joke in our house is that it’s “the year of Maggie” since I’m the only one graduating this year.

Hopefully everyone has things to be happy about looking back on at the end of 2016 and has a good start to 2017.

Thanks for Reading

When Fan Art is Life Changing Part 2

Sometimes I just need to fangirl, badly. You can see it in the predecessor of this post (When fan art is life changing part 1) or in my many posts sobbing about Fanfic so amazing I literally can’t not share it.

So this is another one of those moments.

Needless to say I am UNWELL.

avatar_1019.png

Recently a there have been a few pieces of fan art that just make me a puddle (spoilers for ACOTAR ahead *duh duh duh*). Now please excuse the rest of this post where I display the true level of Fangirl Trash that I am.

flat,800x800,075,f-2.jpg

And yes…I have this sticker on my laptop. No shame.

The first are all by Coralie Jubénot who you can find on tumblr at http://cocotingo.tumblr.com/tagged/my+art or on twitter as @Merwild. She has done some absolutely STUNNING ACOTAR and TOG art. There are so many amazing ones I could share, so it was difficult to narrow it down to a few favorites. Her depiction of Feyre and her sisters are my favorites and her drawing of Rhys are beautiful.

This first one is her drawing of all 3 Archeron sisters and I think it’s stunning and that she captured the 3 of them so well.

2 other favorites are these photos of Feyre in night court attire and of course Starfall. Just looking at them so happy and holding each other makes me want to cry and collapse to the floor. BTW I did not include the PG-13/R/M drawings of some certain scenes from ACOMAF. One involving a certain high lords hands in a chilly inn and the other involving lots and lots of paint (following delicious meal of soup, if you know what I mean…)

Now the exciting thing is that she has just stared reading the Throne of Glass series (she’s only on Crown of Midnight so I’m sure we’ll have some special characters from Heir of fire soon). But for now her drawing of Celaena is my favorite and her depiction of Chaol is amazing. She’s also done head shot of Nehemia and Dorian, both amazing. (Left to Right: Celaena, Dorian, Chaol, Nehemia)

BUT it does not end there. She also has a gorgeous piece of Chaol fetching Celaena from Endovier and it is stunning. He looks like a captain of the guard and she looks like she was just pulled from a mine.

tumblr_oendvidbck1uv3gwvo1_1280

GAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH. I love it.

Now I know I may be spiraling, but unfortunately I’m not done there. Oh no. I’m fully aboard the crazy train.

As you may know, I recently finished Crooked Kingdom and so naturally I had to pin all the new Six of Crows art to my pinterest board and came across this beauty from Fictograph.

bb5c00d080a061f24823d681fb2a4c79.jpg

I’m not exactly sure why, but this is my favorite Kaz Inej art I’ve come across. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re out feeding the crows, but I think it’s beautiful.

Again. I am unwell.

The Wine Book Tag

So I love wine, and love reading so what goes better together than doing the wine book tag!  I first saw this tag on Emma Kath @ lladyliterary. So grab some wine and lets do the Wine Book Tag!

tumblr_nzirpbByTU1tmqxb5o1_r3_400.gif

Box Wine: A book that people will judge you for liking but you like anyway | Iron King

6644117So kicking this off stealing lladyliterary’s first answer. This is what drew me into this post because I love this series and couldn’t agree more is a book people will judge. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa is a series I love, and I feel like nobody else has read. I thought the books were so fabulous. I love Megan and Ash and was rooting for them the entire time. I love the setting and this take on the Fae. And I was even happy to have the spin off, even if it wasn’t as good of the original (of course).

Organic Wine: A book that doesn’t have any added crap and is written perfectly | Fangirl

fangirl-rainbow-rowell-cover-677x1024Fangirl is perfect. There is nothing about Fangirl I did not like except the end, because it was over and I could have read 500 more pages about Cath. Never in my life have I connected so much with a book character so in my mind Fangirl is flawless.

Gluehwein: A really spicy, wintry read | Outlander

21532133If Outlander isn’t spicy I don’t know what is. The chemistry between Claire and Jamie is electric and there are some steamy scenes between the two of them. Plus something about the remote Scottish setting just makes me want to curl up with a blanket on a cold day and read this.

Sauvignon Blanc: A really sharp and aggressive read that you couldn’t put down | The 5th Wave

16101128I didn’t expect to like this book because I’d heard it was about aliens and that didn’t really interest me. But there was so much mystery to the entire story and it was written so well that I ended up reading it cover to cover in under 48 hours, staying up all hours of the night just to see what happens.

Pinot Noir: A book you didn’t expect much from but ended up getting blown away by | Six of Crows

23437156I did not know anything about this book when I picked it up except that it was a heist novel. I had never read the Grisha trilogy and actually didn’t know anything about it. But I just needed something to read and amazon suggested this. And Oh My Gosh was I BLOWN AWAY. I loved this book start to finish and it is now one of my favorite books.

Chardonnay: A good summer read that was super zesty | The Bet

17560674-2Ok so The Bet is good for when you just need that quality boy gets the girl in the end romance read, but a little bit more for adults. I enjoyed this story and then the 2 sequals a lot. This was one of the first romance novels I ever picked up and it will always be a favorite. It was a nice beach read.

Rose: A book that has a little bit of everything in it | The Mortal Instruments

256683Werewolves, demons, vampires, Fae, Warlocks, Angels, Shapeshifters, Demon hunters oh my! This series has all the paranormal creatures, YA romance, action, politics, family issues you name it and it’s somewhere in this vast universe created by Cassandra Clare.

Shiraz: A full bodied book that is dark and juicy | Diminished Responsibility

9205674So I had to read a book with a “responsibility theme” summer before my senior year of high school. I found this by simply looking for books with responsibility in the title and ended up really enjoy it. It starts off with a girl and her sister getting kidnapped and her sister dies. But because of “diminished responsibility” the murdered gets off with a lesser sentence. We then get to see how he haunts her for the rest of her life and what happens as she tries to escape her past. It was an exciting read and a little dark but full o lots of twists and turns.

Merlot: A smooth easy read with a soft finish | Anna and the French Kiss

17453983When you just need that really cute love story, the it totally PG, then Anna and the French Kiss is perfect. It’s an adorable romance where everything works out, plus there are two more stories to go along with it where we do get sneak peeks of what Anna and her man are up to.

Champagne: Your favorite book | A Court of Mist and Fury

26073150How can I not mention this book. It came out in may and all this time later at the end of September it is still consuming my soul. Despite the fact that Empire of Storms has come and gone, A Court of Mist and Fury still holds the top spot in my heart as not only my favorite SJM book, but my favorite book in general. I still find myself searching the internet for new fan fiction, rereading chapters and falling in love with these characters all over again all the time and I don’t think that’s going to stop any time soon.

Who do you tag |

Nessian Fic Part 4

Ok so if you follow my posts, I’ve been dying a slow death reading StarsWhoListen’s Nesta/Cassian Fics. The original idea for them were my own and there is only one person I would trust to write them for me (since I am talentless in the creative writing department) and now we have finished the beautiful story of Nessian’s Family.

The reason these fics are so amazing is a) they all have Mumford and Sons lyric titles (my fav band), b) Nessian is written so well and true to character and this last reason only applies to me but c) these fics are full of inside jokes for me of things I’ve said or would say because the reason my friend StarsWhoListen writes Nesta so well is because she writes her as me.

Now that being said there is one little inside joke I would like to address: CUCUMBER SANDWICHES ARE A THING. If you read part 3 of the Nessian Babies Series then you’ll notice this reference and I would just like to say it’s a real sandwich that my family eats and I enjoy for lunch frequently.

expsi12325_W1973175D05_03_1b.jpg

See? Normal.

*Ends rant here*

But please, if you love Nessian and need some seriously adorable Nessian moments in your life then go read Roll Your Stone Away, I Saw A Flicker Then Just Smoke and Awake My Soul.

BFF Book Tag

So I was tagged by Jess @ StarsWhoListen to do this tag and of course she is my actual real life BFF so I’m not surprised, so this is the BFF Book Tag:

Setting the Example: A pair/ group of book BFFs that you love | Ruby, Liam, Chubs & Zu

Screen Shot 2016-09-22 at 6.27.25 PM.pngHow could you not want to a part of their little family in the Darkest Minds? Not only are they the kind of friends you consider family, but they just have so many jokes and witty banter that keeps them all simile even though they’re in a horrible situation.

Childhood Bestie: Book character you would have liked to grow up with | Percy Jackson

27c36927e150c50f27f4f51c62d219ffHow could you not want to grow up with Percy? Sure his home life with his stepdad was not ideal, but imagine going on quests and saving the world with him and just getting to be at Camp Halfblood. Plus I appreciate the fact that he is the sassiest demigod out there and know we would get along great.

Frenemy: Which book character would bring out your competitive side | Manon Blackbeak

77426f8a63373dc597d89b9c9e339ac7.jpg

Now don’t get me wrong I love Manon but you have to admit she is the perfect frenemy. And sometime you just need that friend who is going to taunt you until you finally take action and I feel like Manon would not be shy about brining out my competitive side.

Fashion Guru: Who would be the bestie whose closet you’d want to raid or go on a shopping spree with | Isabelle Lightwood

isabelle-lightwood-shadowhunters-the-mortal-instruments-cassandra-clare-favim-com-4171901How can you not love Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments Series? Not only is she a strong kick ass female but she also always looks good. She does not care what anyone else thinks of her outfits and the girl’s got style so I’d love to have her help me with anything appearance related.

Bad Influence: Character you would commit a small act of rebellion with | Kaz Brekker

kaz_brekkerNot just Kaz but the whole Six of Crows crew would be ideal group to commit any crime with. I mean with how skilled they all are there’s a 99% we’d get away with it PLUS can you think of a more fun group of people to hang out with? Their dynamic is hilarious since none of them trust each other and all they do is bicker because they’re all secretly in love with each other.

Blood Brothers: Which character would you want to be your surrogate big brother/sister | Nesta Archeron

tumblr_odtooygRJg1uv3gwvo2_1280.png

Obviously Nesta from ACOMAF. I am borderline obsessed with her and all I want is a Nesta Cassian spin off series. Now as sisters,  we would fight like dogs and cats because we’re too similar but I know she would tell someone off for me in a heart beat and be a fierce protector if I needed it (even knee an immortal fae warrior in the balls if I needed her too)

Mother Hen: Which character would you want to be by your side when you’re having a bad day | Levi

e79a27ed8c17cf32b2c7ad3346740458

Sorry Jess but how can I not steal your answer. There is literally no character sweeter and more likely to cheer someone up than Levi from Fangirl. He is so unbelievably positive, plus he would bring me free coffee which would immediately make my day better.

The Counsellor: Which character would you go to for relationship advice or confide a secret to | Tessa Gray

the_infernal_devices__tessa_gray_by_caroline1233-d7u97k9.jpgI feel like Tessa from the Infernal Devices series would give great relationship advice. After all, she’s been around for a long time, plus had some tricky choices in her own relationships but it all ended up working out for her (thank you Cassandra Clare for happy endings). Plus she’s super smart so no matter what I think she’d be good at giving advice in general.

More than Friends: Who would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend | Cassian

195398adf9e3bc0e211f7a39ac973b25Ok so this question is hard, because in my mind I have A LOT of book boyfriends, BUT as ACOMAF is still first and foremost all I think about during the course of the day, my little baby bat Cassian would obviously be my BF since the “sarcastic asshole, who is super protective of his family” is my “type” (mostly the sarcastic asshole part *looking at you John Murphy*) Also there is a shockingly small amount of Cassian fan art so enjoy this beautiful man SJM pinned as “cassian”

Who do you tag | Anyone who wants to do this tag plus…

Megan @ bookslayerreads

Rachel @ LifeOfAFemaleBibliophile

Becca @ RebeccaReads

TheImmortalReaders

Emily @ EmiesNook  (since I know you were tagged but you haven’t done it yet)

Let me know what you think. Who are you book best friends?

Thanks for Reading!

Archeron Sisters Book Club

So this is the start of a monthly book club, where myself, Emily @ EmiesNook and Jess @ StarsWhoListen will be selecting a book each month and reading it together. Then we will each review the book separately and do a single, collaborative discussion page about the book.

We are 3 best friends and a branch of the same sorority family. Jess is my Big and I am Emily’s Big. Together we love to watch The 100, Outlander, and Game of Thrones. Plus we love to go to the bookstore together and stare longingly at Sarah J Maas’s books. By the end of last year we did absolutely everything together, and even though we are not all in the same place anymore we still love to read the same books together and discuss them.

We call ourselves the Archeron Sisters as a reference from Sarah J Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Nesta, Elain, and Feyre are the 3 sisters with very distinct personalities.

fire-clipart-cliparti1-fire-clip-art-jpgI am Nesta, because of my sarcastic, sometimes abrasive nature, and the fact that Cassian is totally my type.

17169-illustration-of-red-tulips-pvEmily @ EmiesNook is Elain, as she is the most gentle of the 3 of us.

8cxkzblei

And  Jess @ StarsWhoListen is Feyre (although she is really more of a combination of Feyre and Mor) as she is all about justice and is currently studying to be a domestic violence lawyer.

September Book:

15790873-2.jpg

So if you’d like to read along with us and join our discussion, this month we’ll be reading This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E Smith. It’s a contemporary romance and is praised as being gorgeous and heartwarming.

Graham Larkin and Ellie O’Neill meet – albeit virtually – when Graham accidentally sends Ellie an e-mail about his pet pig Wilbur. The two seventeen year olds strike up an email relationship even though they don’t even know each other’s first name.

Jess @ Starswholisten

ACOMAF Merch

So my good friend Emily @ EmiesNook is a big SJM fan and so for her birthday which was over the summer I ordered her a print from The Quoted Page on Etsy. I am so happy with this purchase. It was not super expensive but I think it’s a stunning print.

I opened it today and it looks perfect. It looks just like it did online, a really high quality print and not blurry at all. PLUS it came with 2 beautiful watercolor book marks with ACOMAF quotes on them! What a nice bonus!! (Planning on keeping 1 for myself).

Anyways if you’re interested I highly recommend checking out The Quoted Page etsy shop as she has all kinds of merch for book lovers!

Nessian Fic Part 3

So I’m just going to keep doing this because I consider these StarsWhoListen fan fictions about Nessian to be partly mine as they are always dedicated to me and I help come up with some of the ideas for them because I need all the Nessian fics.

I may have mentioned to my favorite fan fic writer that I love nothing more than a good wounded lovers fic where someone gets hurt and their lover gets all flustered, emotional, and protective about them.

Well ask and you shall receive. So now on top of the most amazing Nessian Pregnant Fic (I Saw a Flicker then Just Smoke) which morphed into Nessian with a puppy we have Cassian fussing over an injured Nesta which is everything you’d want it to be and more. So go read Sinking Ships, which is named after an amazing Nessian song by Seafret, my new favorite band.

Nessian Forever.

PS: Please know the line “But my insults are so clever” was inspired by me

The Book Courtship Tag

Ok so I originally saw this on booklayerReads blog and thought it looked super fun so here it goes. This is the Book Courtship tag!

Initial Attraction: A book you bought because of the cover | Red Queen

22328546

Although I had heard of Red Queen, I had no idea what it was about and simply wanted it because it looked so pretty. I mean that crown dripping blood? Gorgeous. I mean how could you not want to read this?

First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary | The Bricks That Build the Houses

26073155I was in a used bookstore when I found this, so naturally the YA books were very limited. I grabbed this one off the shelf because it was bright pink and read the description which read

Becky, Harry and Leon are leaving London in a fourth-hand Ford with a suitcase full of stolen money, in a mess of tangled loyalties and impulses. But can they truly leave the city that’s in their bones?

It sounded very exciting, and thus far it’s been a lot slower than I was expecting, as right now it’s slowly detailing the lives of all theses characters who slowly begin to interconnect so hopefully we’ll get to the exciting stolen money and drama soon.

Sweet Talk: A book with great writing | Fangirl

fangirl-rainbow-rowell-cover-677x1024Anything by Rainbow Rowell has great writing in my mind. I love her books because there’s just something about the way she writes that captivates me. I’ve said this before but in my mind her and John Green touch on similar subject matter and write along similar lines but for some reason the way Rowell does her dialogue and weaves her story just captivates me so much more. Fangirl especially is a book I could read over and over and never get tired of.

First Date: A book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series | The Hunger Games

2767052While this applies to most series I’ve read I’d have to say The Hunger Games because that was really the first YA series I picked up for fun in high school after what I can only call my longest reading slump ever (post twilight in 8th grade that lasted for about 2 years). After reading the Hunger Games I had to have Catching Fire and stayed up all night after junior prom to finish it.

Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night | Catching Fire

6148028Again, this has been a lot of books for me, since if somethings good I do not want to put it down. But since I just mentioned it, I’ll say Catching Fire. At my post prom party when everyone else went to bed, I stayed up until 4 in the morning finishing Catching Fire because I HAD to know what happened. No shame.

Always On Your Mind: A book you could not stop thinking about | A Court of Mist and Fury

26073150A Court of Mist and Fury is responsible for my biggest book hangover EVER. Honestly it has been over 4 months since it came out and I’ve read plenty of other amazing books since then, INCLUDING Empire of Storms, and STILL I cannot get A Court of Mist and Fury off my brain. I think it may be my favorite SJM book of all time, which I can’t believe I’m saying because I LOVE Heir of Fire.

Getting Physical: A book you love because of the way it feels | The Complete Sherlock Holmes B&N Edition

9781435158108_p0_v1_s192x300This is probably the most beautiful book I own. It’s huge, leather bound, has the fancy build in bookmark, and the edges of the pages are GOLD. Plus the cover and spine are both gorgeous and it looks so nice on the shelf. I just love holding it, and it’s usually my subject for all book photo shoots.

Meeting the Parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends | Eleanor and Park

15745753I love Rainbow Rowell and I love Eleanor and Park. I think it’s such an amazing coming of age story that also touches on some really deep and important issues such as bullying, self identify, poverty and abuse, just to name a few. Honestly I feel like this book should be read in high school, since at least for me in 9th grade we only read “coming of age” stories and this one is amazing and I have already recommended it to at lease 2 people.

Thinking About the Future: A book or series you know you will reread many times | Throne of Glass Series

81PUjYDq2yLIt’s already been reread so many times so I know it’s going to happen again. I feel like every time I pick it up I discover some new little detail that just ties the story together later on the road and the ups and down of Celaena’s life and her struggles are so amazing to read every time. It may be fantasy but it’s a beautiful story and I’ll never get tired of it.

New Laptop Stickers!

It’s out with the old and in with the new! I love laptop stickers and I loved my old case, but it was cracked, dirty and old so it was time to replace it. Now unfortunately that meant losing some old stickers that were not the reusable sort, but it also meant spending lots of time on Red Bubble picking out fabulous new stickers! And this time I went for full fandom immersion: 2 from ACOMAF , 2 for Throne of Glass, 2 for The 100, 1 old Game of Thrones, 1 LoTR, 1 Sherlock, 1 Outlander, and 2 about reading and one that literally labels me as “fangirl trash”.  There are a few non nerdy ones too. A dunkin donuts cup (of course), A “massachusetts made” sticker (obvi) and my good old Boston Strong sticker, plus one for my college and one that says “Mutts Rule”.  I’d say I’m pretty happy every time I look at it now. But I had so many great new stickers that the hardest part was painstakingly pouring over the possible layouts to fit as many as possible.

It was also very hard for me to find a nice green case. I wanted a darker, opaque hunter green case but apparently those don’t exist. The first one I ordered was supposed to be mint green but it was literally the same teal blue I had before so I went with a super neon green one instead. It’s not exactly what  wanted but I like it.

I’m just so happy with it!
